Being based in Florence, a city rich in culture, art and fashion, often provides us with inspiration for our creative process. The exhibit Duffy, The Photographic Genius at Florence’s Museo Alinari pays homage to one of fashion’s most iconic photographers and sparked our imagination for our Fall/Winter 2012-2013 photo shoot.

The exhibit runs until May 20th and is a wonderful look back at the revolutionary and now iconic images married with the elegance of fashion that stimulate many designs today. The unconventional poses and avant-garde style of the infamous photographer captured the raw textures and materials of fashion.

Our inspiration was particularly sparked through the sense of movement and volume captured in Brian Duffy’s 1965 image of Jane Birkin jumping. This style and form is perfect to represent the fluidity and volume of BP Studio’s knitwear! In our photos for the FW2012-13 campaign, the weightlessness of the pose showcases the soft and easy to wear fabrics of these elegant winter pieces.
Not only did our photo shoot result in fantastic images allowing out knitwear textures seen more tangibly, it also allowed our model to practice her jumping skills with over 1,500 shots! Needless to say, our hard work and excessive jumping activity was felt by all at the end of the day.
